Petit Investigations LLC provides three of the foremost actuarial and dynamic risk assessment tools for individuals with a history of, or pending charges related to, sexual offending:
- STATIC-99R
- STABLE-2007
- ACUTE-2007
These tools are widely used by courts, treatment providers, and correctional systems throughout the U.S., Canada, and internationally to support objective evaluations of risk and treatment needs.
The STATIC-99R is a static risk assessment instrument. It evaluates unchanging historical factors (e.g., age at release, prior sexual offenses, victim characteristics) to estimate the long-term probability of sexual reoffending. It is normed on thousands of cases and provides a risk category that can inform supervision, treatment, and court decisions.
The STABLE-2007 is a dynamic risk assessment tool that evaluates stable, changeable risk factors like intimacy deficits, emotional regulation, cooperation with supervision, and deviant sexual interests. It helps identify criminogenic needs that can be targeted in treatment and supervision.
The ACUTE-2007 assesses short-term, rapidly changing factors that may signal imminent risk, such as access to victims, substance use, emotional collapse, or hostility. It is used to inform day-to-day supervision decisions and identify acute risk escalation.
- Support post-conviction relief petitions and appeals with objective data.
- Assist courts or attorneys in understanding offense patterns, treatment needs, and risk levels.
- Inform treatment planning by identifying key dynamic risk areas.
- Support supervision agencies in creating tiered and appropriate safety plans.
- Provide evaluative clarity in complex or contested cases.
We are certified in the use of STATIC-99R, STABLE-2007, and ACUTE-2007 by the Sexual Abuse Assessment & Risk Needs Association (SAARNA). SAARNA is a professional organization dedicated to the advancement of evidence-based practices in the field of sexual abuse risk assessment. It sets the standard for training and certification of professionals working with individuals who have committed sexual offenses.
